a day in the life of a florist, part II ~ proces a day in the life of a florist, part II ~ processing and conditioning flowers is such an important part of floristry that i learned at @flowerschoolny. simple techniques can increase a flower's life span by days (sometimes weeks!). from the water temperature, to how the stems are cut, to other tips and tricks unique to each flower, the purpose of processing is to make sure each stem is as hydrated as possible. then comes the fun part of designing! where the blend of careful planning and intuitive dreaming dance together to create something that's never been made before. i love using a lazy susan so that i can rotate the arrangement around to see it from all sides. plus it's fun to spin :) photos by @seventhprodigy 🌸 . . . #adayinthelife #floristnyc #floristlosangeles #flowerphotography #floraldesign #floraldesigner #fleurvoyant #flowerschoolny

August 2, 2024 ~ the day the flower fairy princess August 2, 2024 ~ the day the flower fairy princess bride married her prince! 🌼🧚🏼💛 tyler and i got married under a giant willow tree in our family friend's backyard, a backdrop of verdant beauty. the theme of the wedding organically turned into "storybook fairytale garden party", which felt apt for the romantics that tyler and i are. set at Muir Beach where my parents live, it was so special to feel at home and invite all of our loved ones to experience the magic of Marin. as the sole planner, designer, and florist for my own wedding it was soo much work but also such a gift to see the vision come together even beyond my wildest dreams. everyone told me i was crazy to flower for my own wedding, but i couldn't see it happen any other way. safe to say, it was so worth it! my dream of the wedding was, naturally, to be floral-infused and filled with intention. the week of, my team of florists and i setup a makeshift “flower camp” in my parent’s front yard. we foraged all of the fennel from the sides of the highway, and wild mustard too. they grow like weeds here. we sourced most of our flowers from our friend’s farm @frontporchfarm and @sfflowermart. i loved knowing where the flowers and foliage came from directly, grown locally and with love. tyler and i both wore the yellow flower and medicinal herb Helichrysum that i was gifted in Greece this summer, his in his boutonniere and mine in my hair, which is called "siempre vida" because the yellow never fades, symbolizing everlasting love. to get to the ceremony site, guests walked along a path through the woods, greeted with baby's breath hair pins and boutonnières to adorn themselves and an herbal tincture "love potion" i formulated for heart opening. it's these small moments of flower spirits that i loved the most. & there are so many people who helped make this day come to life that i will do in a separate post (out of space!) lastly, a moment for the altar - our aisle lined with grasses and fennel, ending with an organic open arch that i wanted to feel like a portal into a fairy world. i think we all could feel the pixie dust floating amongst us. it was pure magic. ✨ @anniemorganphotography
